Search services

Carrying out of various kinds of the patent and trademark searches pertains to the most required services as far as the public is concerned. Professional searchers of the Office can work either with the classic collections of the patent documents or with patent databases stored on CD/DVD and also with selected online databases contained in the foreign database centers. Last but not least significant source for performing searches is the Internet with freely accessible databases.

The access to the following database centers is guaranteed for the Office:

  • Questel-Orbit (France)
  • STN International (Germany)
  • Dialog (USA)
  • EP - Epoque

A specialized workplace located in the Office reading room offers access to a database of national documents, which comprises patent applications, utility models and industrial designs applications, which have been accepted by the Office after January 1, 1986. In this database it is possible to make inquiries to concrete numbers of documents (e. g. status of the patent application procedure) and further to carry out factual searches according to the name of author and to the selected criteria (e. g. expressions of document title, optionally symbols of the IPC). Searches for trademarks are carried out in the system of the national trademarks (hereinafter TM) and further in the ROMARIN database which comprises all trademarks registered according to the Madrid Agreement at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva. The searches can be performed according to wording of the TM, TM representation or according to all bibliographic data inclusive of the international classification of figurative elements (Vienna Agreement) and international classification of goods and services (Nice Agreement).
